How media lead to depression, insecurities and non-real view on the world
It is known that media have a bad impact on mental health of people. Media can lead to depression or even insecurities and I have some experience with this, so this was the reason why I have chosen to talk about this topic. I would like to teach you in my blog about how dangerous media for our metal heath can be. My aim is to make people aware about this problem and to make them more mentally stronger and immune. I am interested in this issue because I have seen many articles about how people committed a suicide just because of media and because they were depressed and felt insecure. I am also interested in this issue because I experienced depression from media so I know how uncomfortable it can get. I consider this issue as very important for society because it may lead to bad lives and bad influence.

As we know, media has also a negative impact on people and mostly young people and children. The one of the most negative media is social media because children can find all negative news here. On social media we can find many depressing stuff or stuff which lead to suicide. Nowadays, children compare themselves a lot and it can lead to insecurities, depression and even bullying. Some parents do not realize that social media can have a negative impact on their children. After this terrifying event which happened many parents realized that they will forbid their children to have social media. One girl committed a suicide just because of social media. She was only 14 years old and her parents accused for this social media as Facebook and snapchat. By this, many parents realized that their children can have access to horrific content on social media. This was not the only case, many children harmed themselves just because of social media or media in general. The girl’s parents also found that her Instagram account was composed of suicide and self-harm material. There should be a moment of reflection and try to think about this. Speakers for every social media said that they do everything to keep their young users safe. Social media can also impact children’s mental health. They do not have to commit a suicide, but they can be depressed and insecure. There was written that children can be even bullied through social media and this leads to bad impact as well. Committing a suicide is the worst scenario but mental health is very sensitive topic as well. Speakers for all social media said that they will try to prevent this and to make social media a safer place where people can find information and other stuff.

There is many fake news in media such as social media, newspapers or TV. There almost none fake news on radio and radio is considered as the most trusted media. Fake news may lead to non-real view on the world and it can also lead to depression. There is no chance that people will recognize if the news are fake or not. Fake news is not that much on TV than on social media as Facebook or Instagram. I have read in my life many fake news and I can say from my own experience that it was depressing reading that kind of news and then I was sharing this fake news with other people until I got an information that it was fake. This is how fake news are spread among people and the world. There is fake news mostly about politics and the worst thing is that people believe it. In the article, which I have found was written that all fake new which are for example on Facebook will stay there and they will not be deleted. This fake news makes people depressed about the issues in the world which are not even true and then people have non-real view on the world. People do not have the right view on the world. There was a survey if Facebook will recognize fake news. One person posted 20 fake news on Facebook and only 6 of then were flagged as fake news. Even if all this fake news is flagged as fake, they will be still not deleted, and people might not see that they are fake, and people can still share them. Next time we should be more careful and think first before getting into depression or before spreading it among other people.

What the Experts say 1
There was a research and study that when people spend additional hour on social media or watching television, they are having more intense and deep depression and depressive symptoms go up more. The study was tested on young students from 11th grade and this study included more than 3000 students. “To our knowledge, the present study is the first to present a developmental analysis of variations in depression and various types of screen time, “the researchers wrote. Being in depression from media can have bad impact on psychological and academic development. Media lead to insecurities and to feelings of loneliness and sadness. It is very important to keep track of hours we spend on media, either watching or reading news. Even news can lead to depression because they many times show us unreal view on things which people can actually believe and that makes them depressed and they may even feel hopelessness.

What the Experts say 2
Nowadays, news is full of negative and depressive articles and stories which are about wars, suicides, terrorism, crime, violence and so on. Many times, these articles are not even true and give us unreal view on the world. They do this in order to have more views. Usually, there are just bad news and no words about good and positive news. Many people get even fear when they see in news or tv that some plane crashed or when there was some car accident. It makes people insecure and scared. This damages people’s mental health and there is a higher risk of being depressed. When people see negative news either in TV or in newspapers, they become automatically more depressed and they feel anxiety and insecurity. Furthermore, even when we see in newspapers or TV some models or actresses, we may feel more insecure and depressed that we do not look like them.

This article is also something similar and explains similar thing as the video which I have uploaded on my blog. This article explains how all media and social media make people more insecure and depressed. Insecurities has always existed, but it became more intense when social media came. People do not realize that everything what they see on social media might not be real and this is why people feel more insecure and they can even commit a suicide. This article is trying to teach people that before we will scroll through for example Instagram, we should realize that it is not how real life is. People compare a lot through social media, and it makes them more insecure. We should be aware of this. I recommend reading this article in order to understand that social media is just a virtual reality but not real life.

My view
In my opinion, media lead to depression, insecurities, anxiety and non-real view on the world. Media influence people in a negative way. Mostly, Tv or social media have a negative impact on people. Radio is the most trusted media so there is almost no chance of finding fake news. Social media has the worst impact on mental health. Reading fake news on social media or newspapers make people more depressed, unhappy and anxious. People do not have to even realize that it is fake, and they will share it also with other people. Here we can see the power of social media. When talking about social media, I think that Instagram has the worst influence on young people because young people do not realize that Instagram is not a reality and they might believe everything they will see. There were committed many suicides just because of comparing to other people or just because of not having that much likes under one photo. People are then depressed and insecure, they are even isolated from reality. In my opinion, parents should be aware of what their children may see or find on social media. It may lead to mental problems and even suicide. On social media there are also many fake news and mostly negative news which makes people unhappy. This kind of news we can usually find on Facebook. If there were no social media, there would be no problems like this. My view is that there should be no social media or at least it should be somehow restricted. Many young people are even bullied through social media and this can make serious mental problems and depressions. Another problem which is media causing is that people have non-real view on the world. This is made by trusting everything what we see or read in media. For example, young people as I said trust everything what is on Instagram, but they do not realize that it is not how people look in the reality. Another example is when there is fake news in Tv or on Facebook. People have no chance of recognizing that it is fake. Many people share it and then more people might be depressed from what they have read, and they may never know that it was fake. All kinds of media can lead to depression and anxiety, but it is just on us how we will be immune. It is on us what information we will take and which we will ignore. We as people should learn how to separate negative things from positive things. Media might have also positive effect on us, but we need to be careful and think first before becoming unhappy and depressed from what we see or read. We should not be insecure just because we see something on Tv or on social media. In my opinion, it should motivate us not make us depressed. If we will see some negative news, we should not read it or watch it but just ignore it. I think that this might be a right solution.

The last blog I have chosen is about advertising and I found here advantages and disadvantages about advertising in media. I found very interesting advertisements there and some of them surprised me. There are also graphs which explains negative effects and by that I understand it more. I recommend to read this blog in order to look at advertisements in different way and to see also negative impacts of it.

Well, I personally think that the social media is a real problem for young teenagers, this can really destroy someone’s life. Fake news is a big topic but what can we do, just learn to filter them from real news and ignore them. I find this topic really interesting, because it’s still a big thing on social media for a longer time. On the other hand, great work, I enjoyed reading it.
